No family relation
by: Deborah

I have no relation to the Rodaska/Rodash family, just an obsession with genealogical research and an interest in "British Immigrants in Montreal".

Hello Deborah, I don't know who you are or what relationship you have to my family yet interested in your comments. I've been in touch with Patricia Whitehead in Australia who is my direct cousin since I am Courtney Rodash the youngest son of Winnifred and Mark Rodash of Montreal. It would be nice to hear from you in any event, so you could respond to my direct email: courtliam@shaw.ca

Cheers Courtney

Winifred Cowling Rodaska "Rodash"
by: Deborah

Winifred M. Rodaska, age 22, typist, travelled to Canada on the ship, Aquitania, departing Southampton on June 6, 1947 and arriving at Halifax.

Lovell’s Directories:
Searching in the directories from 1946 to 1948, Mike Rodaska lived in Montreal at 2571 St. Charles, an employee of Beck Co. There is no Mark Rodaska listed, but a Mark Rodash begins to appear in 1948, an employee of Northern Electric, living in Lasalle.
D. Rodaska is listed in 1949 and then no more. M.M. Rodash continues to be listed as a mechanic for Northern Electric until 1954 when he is the owner of "Premier Home Products" in 1954.

1957 the Rodash’s are not longer listed in Lovell's.
That July, the UK incoming Passenger lists show Winifred Rodash, b. 1924, and 3 children travelling to Brighton on the SS Ivernia. They return to Montreal on the Empress of France in November 1956.

Mark does not reappear in Lovell’s Directory until 1959, when he is a "slsmn" living at 5954 Connaught Ave.

1962 and 1968, Mark and his wife, Winnifred are on Canada’s Voter’s List at apartment 2, 40 Hillcrest Ave, Lachine.

Mark died and is buried in Mount Royal Cemetery.
(Mark Rodash was born September 10, 1924 and died April 9, 1993, age 68 in Lasalle. His father was Michael "Rodash" and his mother, M. Donald.)
Michael Rodaska (apparent father) was born October 8, 1895 and died June 28, 1955 in Montreal.

Winnifred died in 2003. Her obituary was found online at "federationgenealogie dot qc dot ca"
